Perm celebrated Russia’s National Flag Day
On August 22, 2021 the Kama river bank slope near the Embankment was decorated by a huge 25-meter three-colour Russian flag. The city celebrated the holiday with a motorbike race during which the participants carried the flags throughout the city.
The motorbike race route covered the main streets of Perm.
As a tradition, a huge 25-meter three-colour official flag of the Russian Federation was placed on the Embankment slope and the city residents could take selfie photos to upload in social media under #tricolourperm.
In the central districts of Perm the volunteers were giving out badges with the official flag image to residents and guests of the city.
In the evening VETTA TV channel started a marathon show featuring the holiday greetings, interviews and a concert by the leading Perm groups and actors. The show premiered the song “Native land’s flag” by The Happy duet written by Maria and Nikita Savostyn from Perm.
To note: Russia’s National Flag Day is celebrated annually on August 22 based on the Russian President Decree (1994), to mark the day when the three-colour flag was put up on the Russian Government building in Moscow in 1991 replacing the USSR flag as Russia’s new official symbol.
